A trained leader is one who has completed basic training and is knowledgeable in the role to be performed. Such confidence becomes a positive influence on youth involved in Scouting. Leader Training There are three steps to the Scout Leader Training process.
In order to be considered fully "trained", a Cub Scout Leader
must complete New Leader Essentials and Cub Scout Leader Specific Training.
All registered leaders in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts must also complete Youth
Protection Training. Youth Protection Training: All registered leaders must attend this training. Certification must be updated every 3 years. The training is generally offered monthly by the Arapahoe District and Denver Area Council. New Leader Essentials: This is training for all new Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venture Leaders. Topics featured include; Personal goals, Youth Growth and Development, How you as a Leader fit into your unit and your district, Where to find help and support, Unit and District Finances, Safe Scouting, and Scouting Transitions. Cub Scout Leader Specific Trainings: These are
separate training sessions that feature discussions on issues specific to Cub
Scout Pack Leadership, including specific leader training covering the Tiger,
Wolf/Bear, Webelos, and Cubmaster/Committee positions and
responsibilities. Pow-Wow: A fun event with great program ideas for all parents and leaders. BALOO (Basic Leader Outdoor Orientation): Cub Scout leaders, Webelos Leaders, and any parents interested in helping their Pack with planning and execution of outdoor events such as camping should attend this training. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training: This Training is available to Webelos Leaders and Boy Scout Troop Leaders. Topics featured include; basic camp skills, cooking, first aid, knots, lashings, and more. Course is for both Boy Scout and Cub Scout leaders. Fulfills the requirement for the Webelos Leader Outdoor Skills Training (WLOT) needed to earn the Webelos Leader Knot. |
