Volunteer Positions

Advancement Chairman:

Responsible for tracking the advancements of the Scouts, and ensuring that the advancement awards (patches, pins, belt loops, etc.) are acquired and given to the Cubmaster in time for Pack meeting advancement ceremonies.  Can be performed by one to several volunteers.

Blue and Gold Banquet Committee Chairperson:

A coordinator plus a committee with one representative from each Den.  Organize the banquet, which includes making the facility arrangements, decorations, finding catering, and contest / prizes, entertainment, and working with Cubmaster to coordinate agenda for the evening.  At least one person from each Den must participate, and additional volunteers are desired (banquet is in February).

Brag Vest Coordinator:

Charter Organization Representative(s):

Serve as liaison between the Pack and our Charter Organization, and assist with the re-chartering process.  A relatively easy job performed by one person (ongoing, but mostly January for re-chartering and Spring for scheduling facilities for the next scouting year).

Committee Chairperson:

The Pack Committee Chairman works with the Cubmaster as a team to recruit, train, and motivate Committee members, Pack Leaders and parents in Cub Scouting.  A close working relationship between the Pack Committee Chairman and the Cubmaster is vital to the success of the Pack.

Cubmaster:

Organize and run the Pack meetings.  Promote and monitor the health of the Pack.  Only one Cubmaster is required but multiple assistants are helpful.

Den Leader Coach:

Best performed by an experienced Den leader.  This is an important task that involves being a resource for each Den leader.  A person who knows current practices / procedures, how meetings and achievements are accomplished at each rank, recruiting new leaders, providing the necessary materials to each Den, and filling in as Den leader in emergencies.

Den Leader(s) / Assistant Den Leader(s):

Run Den level meetings, promote a fun and educational environment for Scouts to learn and enjoy.  At least one Den leader and one assistant are required for each den.  It is highly recommended for at least one parent per scout to participate at the Den level.  Scouting is a family activity.  It is our personal experience that the Scouts have more fun when their parents are active participants in the Den.

Door Prize Coordinator:

Acquire door prizes at the least possible cost to the Pack (e.g.   get donations of cheap stuff!) for Cubmaster to give away at Pack meetings.  Coordinate storing these and getting them to the meetings.

Fundraising Committee Chairman:

Organize the Pack’s major fund raising activity, which in years past has been the Christmas Wreath sale.  Includes providing sales packets, deciding prize selection, collecting orders from all Scouts, ordering wreaths, and collecting sale funds after delivery.  Three to several volunteers are needed (August to December).

Hikemaster(s):

Responsible for organizing the monthly hikes, attendance prizes, and tracking the Scouts attendance for the resulting hike patches at the end of the year.  Can be performed by several volunteers (monthly).

Magness Camp Coordinator:

Membership Coordinator:

Maintains Pack roster and assists with Pack roundup in August.  One person job, due to the simplicity (mostly August and September – limited duties year round).

Pinewood Derby Event Chairperson:

A coordinator plus a committee with one representative from each Den.  Design and build / buy trophies, organize car weigh-in, and run the race. (Pinewood Derby is in January).

Pow-Wow Training Attendee:

Purchasing Coordinator:

Quartermaster/Librarian:

Coordinate and track storage for the Pack’s belongings (Pinewood Derby track, bridge, books, and resource materials, etc.).  Can be performed by one or multiple volunteers.

Religious Award Coordinator:

Scouting 4 Food Coordinator:

Organize the Scouting for Food drive including mapping areas for each Den and maintaining participation records.  Easy enough for one person, or can be performed by multiple volunteers (food drive is in November).

Scout Show Ticket Sales Coordinator:

Organize the ticket sales.  Get tickets, hand tickets out to Den leaders, maintain sales records and distribute commissions / prizes to Scouts, and to the Council.  (Scout Show is in April).

Service Project Coordinator:

Summer Activities Coordinator:

Decide through committee and organize summertime activities for the Pack.  One to several volunteers are needed for each activity and one overall coordinator is desired (May to August).  A summertime program is required to maintain our Pack credentials.  Includes tracking attendance at one activity for June, July and August.

Treasurer:

Maintains the Pack finances and distributes Den dues monthly.

Unit Commissioner:

Volunteer Coordinator:

Helps Chairman with fall Roundup recruiting and maintains records of the other volunteers on the various tasks within the Pack.  Responsible for encouraging all parents to volunteer and follow through, so nobody gets charged the $30 non-volunteer fee.  Can be performed by one or two volunteers.

Photographer(s):

Take pictures at major Pack functions like Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold banquet, or other events.  You will be the creator and keeper of our Pack photo album which is used in our roundup / recruiting efforts each year.  The intent is to have a collection of fun memories and a tool to show outsiders how much fun we have.

Webmaster:

Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Pack web site.
