NOTES:

1.  Pioneer Trails District Roundtable:  is an awesome source of information for adult leaders at all levels within the Pack.  All leaders are highly encouraged to attend every month. Leaders from throughout the District meet monthly to share ideas, receive special training, and learn about what’s going on in the Scouting program from a local and national perspective.  Roundtable is held at the Parker LDS Stake Center.  Please note that sometimes the Roundtable date is prior to the Pack Committee meeting date!

2.  Den Duties description:

      Set-up/ Take-down: Help set-up, take-down and clean-up the Pack Meeting area.

Flag Ceremony: Perform an appropriate and respectful ceremony presenting and posting the U.S., Colorado and Pack Flags.

Skit: Perform an appropriate and fun-filled skit for the Pack!

Song: Perform an appropriate fun-filled song for the Pack!

3.  Meeting Places: The Pack generally hold the Pack Meetings at the Larkspur Elementary School (LES).  For the Pinewood Derby we meet at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Larkspur. We meet for Pack Hikes at the Larkspur Elementary School (LES) parking lot.

4.  Fundraising: the Pack’s only official fundraiser during the year is the Christmas/Holiday Wreath Sale. The wreath sale packets will be given to the boys at the September Pack Meeting.  Sales orders must be turned in to the Pack at the October Pack meeting.  Wreaths will be delivered to the Pack during the week of November 15-19  The delivery period will last until December 6th when all payments must be turned in to the Pack.  Please note that we focus on this event as our sole opportunity to raise funds for the organization and the quality of our program is related directly to our success with the wreath sales program.

5.  Key Events in the Cub Scout program:  there are so many key events in the Cub Scout program, but I want to highlight a couple:

Pinewood Derby:  this race is always one of the most exciting and fun-filled things we do. The boys and their parents plan and build a racecar (provided by the Pack) and then race it on a high-speed track

Blue and Gold Banquet: this February event celebrates both the birthday of Cub Scouting program and the accomplishments of our WEBELOS II Scouts and their crossover to the Boy Scout program.  This party is a capstone event in the Cub Scout year.  You can always expect food, entertainment, and a moving ceremony

Rank Advancement: is key to acknowledging the accomplishments of every boy.  Our Pack believes in recognizing every boy whenever he advances in rank and we do so; however, there is a formal rank advancement ceremony planned for all boys in a particular age/grade group.  Our WEBELOS 1s formally advance in November and our Tiger Cubs/Wolf Cubs/Bear Cubs formally advance in May.

Crossover: occurs at our annual Pack Barbeque in May.  All boys will formally crossover to the next rank/grade level and we celebrate with a wonderful BBQ and ceremony.

6.   Magness Summer Camp at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch runs from June through August (overnight camping activities).  Magness is a great opportunity for you and your Scout to spend quality time at the Denver Area Council’s premier camping venue. The program is oriented on age-appropriate Scouting activities in a camper friendly environment.  Tents, cots, and meals are provided.

7.   Parental Involvement: is absolutely the key to your boy’s success in this program!
